| Summary of thesis | 1st paper: Online rating is a popular device to help users of platforms such as amazon, ebay, netflix, ... learn the quality of a product. However the way the history of ratings is displayed, selection effects and taste heterogeneity are all factors that might reduce the economic value of ratings. We test the results of a recent theoretical paper (Acemoglu et al. 2022) in an online experiment and see if those results hold in an environment where the products are horizontally differentiated (taste heterogeneity). |
