Married...with children? The effect of income shocks on family arrangements

This paper explores the impact of a non-contributory pension program in Mexico on elderly's decision of cohabiting with their adult children. Following a sharp regression discontinuity approach, the results show mild evidence that aligns with the current economic literature. Positive income shocks to retired adults reduce the probability of coresidence with their offspring.
