Summary of thesis

The aim of my PhD thesis is to empirically analyze the spatial patterns of the diffusion of solar photovoltaic technology in Switzerland, with a particular focus on the existence, and the drivers of social contagion. Using discrete choice experiments, I will also investigate the determinants of photovoltaic (PV) systems adoption and how potential adopters respond to different policy measures. Finally, my thesis contributes to assessing the flexibility potential in the electricity demand as a solution to the rapid propagation of solar energy plants.
