Description

This is the second of a three-part virtual workshop that will be held on Zoom. Students can participate remotely and each part can be taken separately.

Each session consists of two blocks of two hours. Each two hour-block will be divided into a lecture by our speaker as well as a presentation by one of our workshop participants.

Prof. Imas' research studies behavioral economics with a focus on dynamic decision-making. He explores questions related to how prior outcomes affect risk-taking, learning and social interactions, how behavioral economics can be applied to incentive design and how visceral states impact decision-making. His work utilizes a variety of methods, including lab experiments, field experiments, analysis of observational data and theoretical modeling, and includes applications to mental accounting, discrimination and finance.

For his work on the dynamics of discrimination (AER, 2019), Alex recently received the Exeter Price for the best paper published in 2019 in a peer-reviewed journal in the fields of Experimental Economics, Behavioural Economics and Decision Theory.
